Watch Before You Install
We recommend watching the complete installation video before lifting the trailer, removing wheels, or trimming any Titan Shield panels.
Installation conditions vary by RV manufacturer and model. Review the entire installation area before drilling, trimming, or fastening the panels.
Confirm Your Kit Contents

Each screw pack is labeled according to the axle configuration and pack sequence. Confirm that all panels, screw packs, and printed materials are present before beginning.

Follow the RV manufacturer’s approved lifting and support procedures. Use properly rated jack stands and approved lifting points. Never work beneath a trailer supported only by a jack.
Before drilling or installing screws, inspect the mounting area for wiring, plumbing, fuel lines, tanks, structural components, and other possible obstructions.
Installation is performed at the owner’s risk. RV construction and mounting surfaces vary by manufacturer and model. When unsure about lifting points, structural supports, or hidden components, consult a qualified RV service professional.
Tools and Equipment
Note: Pilot holes are optional. The included self-tapping screws can normally be installed without predrilling.
Prepare the Installation Area
- Park the trailer on firm, level ground.
- Chock the wheels and secure the trailer against movement.
- Confirm the manufacturer-approved lifting points.
- Raise and support the trailer with properly rated jack stands.
- Remove the wheels from one installation side.
- Inspect the area above the wheels.
- Identify wiring, plumbing, tanks, brackets, and structural members.
- Confirm the mounting surface is sufficiently flat and solid.
Titan Shield is typically installed against the existing under-decking above the wheels. Fender flare brackets, lower side-skirt brackets, or other supports may sometimes be removed and reinstalled over the panel. In other cases, the Titan Shield can be trimmed to fit around them.
Step-by-Step Installation
1Secure and raise the trailer▾
Place the trailer on level ground, prevent it from moving, and raise it using the RV manufacturer’s recommended lifting procedure. Support the trailer with properly rated jack stands.
2Remove the wheels▾
Remove all wheels from the installation side to provide access to the area above the wheel assembly.
⚠️ Never work beneath a trailer supported only by a jack.
3Inspect the mounting area▾
Check the area above the wheels for obstructions and verify that the mounting surface is solid enough to hold the fasteners. Look for:
- Wiring
- Plumbing
- Fuel lines
- Tanks
- Brackets
- Slide-out components
- Damaged or loose under-decking
4Measure and trim if required▾
Measure the available installation area and mark any necessary cuts on the Titan Shield panel.
Cutting guidance: Titan Shield can be cut with a table saw, circular saw, or jigsaw. A high-tooth-count blade will generally produce a smoother edge. Some loose polymer fibers along a cut edge are normal.
5Prepare the first fastener▾
Partially install one self-tapping screw into the Titan Shield panel before raising it into position. Leave enough of the screw exposed to make the first attachment easier while holding the panel overhead.
6Position and fasten the panel▾
Hold the Titan Shield panel flat against the mounting surface. Begin fastening at one end and work progressively toward the opposite end.
Fastener spacing: Install screws approximately 6 to 8 inches apart around the panel perimeter. Fasteners must enter a solid mounting surface.
7Check the panel▾
Confirm that the panel is secure, lies reasonably flat, and does not interfere with suspension components, tires, wiring, plumbing, tanks, or moving parts.
8Reinstall the wheels▾
Reinstall the wheels and torque the lug nuts according to the RV or axle manufacturer’s specifications.
9Repeat on the opposite side▾
Repeat the installation process on the opposite side of the trailer.
Panel and Screw Patterns
Panel size: 42 × 13.25 inches • Screw spacing: approximately 6–8 inches • Perimeter fastener placement
Single Axle — 1 panel per side
Tandem Axle — 2 panels per side
Tri-Axle — 3 panels per side
These diagrams represent typical installations. Exact panel placement, trimming, seams, and fastener locations will vary by RV construction.
Important Fastener Notes
- Fasten into solid wood or structural under-decking.
- Do not place screws into unsupported fabric alone.
- Do not over-tighten the screws.
- Stop tightening once the screw head is snug and the panel is secure.
- Seams do not need to be perfectly tight.
- Do not bridge moving components or areas requiring service access.
Installation Notes by Axle Configuration
Single Axle
The single-axle kit includes two panels, with one panel typically installed on each side of the RV.
Tandem Axle
The tandem-axle kit includes four panels, normally using two panels on each side. Position the panel seam over a solid mounting area whenever possible.
Tri-Axle
The tri-axle kit includes six panels, normally using three panels on each side. Slide-outs, brackets, or other RV components may require asymmetrical trimming or placement.
What the Finished Installation Should Look Like
The finished panel should sit securely against the mounting surface without interfering with tires, suspension travel, plumbing, wiring, tanks, or other RV components.
Before Lowering the Trailer
After your first trip: Reinspect the panels and fasteners after the first trip and periodically during normal RV maintenance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can Titan Shield be trimmed?
Yes. Titan Shield can be trimmed using a circular saw, table saw, or jigsaw. A high-tooth-count blade generally produces a smoother edge.
Are loose fibers along a cut edge normal?
Yes. Some loose polymer fibers may be visible after cutting and do not necessarily indicate damage to the panel.
Do I need to predrill the screw holes?
Predrilling is optional. A 1/8-inch pilot hole may make installation easier, but the supplied screws are self-tapping.
How far apart should the screws be?
Install screws approximately 6 to 8 inches apart around the perimeter of each panel.
Do the panel seams need to be tight?
No. Small gaps between panels are acceptable as long as the panels are securely fastened into solid mounting material.
Can I install around brackets or support beams?
In many cases, yes. Panels can be trimmed to fit around brackets or structural components. Some brackets may also be removed and reinstalled over the Titan Shield panel.
Can the screws be installed into the existing fabric?
The screws should fasten into solid under-decking or structural material, not unsupported fabric alone.
Is every RV installation identical?
No. RV construction varies significantly by manufacturer, model, floor plan, axle placement, slide-out configuration, and underbody components.
What should I do if wiring or plumbing crosses the installation area?
Do not drill until you have positively identified a safe mounting location. Adjust the panel position, trim the panel, or consult a qualified RV technician.
Will tri-axle installations require trimming?
They may. Slide-out placement, brackets, or frame components can require asymmetrical panel cuts or positioning.
Common Installation Issues
Panel does not lie flat
Possible causes: Bracket or obstruction behind the panel • uneven mounting surface • panel requires trimming • fasteners were installed out of sequence.
Suggested fix: Remove or work around the obstruction, trim the panel where appropriate, and attach progressively from one end to the other.
Screw spins without tightening
Possible cause: The fastener is not entering solid material.
Suggested fix: Reposition the screw into solid under-decking or structural support. Do not rely on unsupported fabric to hold the panel.
Screw head pulls too deeply into the panel
Possible cause: Fastener was over-tightened.
Suggested fix: Stop tightening once the screw is snug and the panel is secure.
Panel contacts a bracket or suspension component
Suggested fix: Remove the panel and trim or reposition it. Maintain clearance around all moving components.
Panel seam falls over an unsupported area
Suggested fix: Adjust panel placement so each panel edge can be secured into a solid mounting surface.
